Working with Bristol City Leap to deliver climate action across the city

We are excited to announce that Bristol Green Capital Partnership will be working with Bristol City Leap in 2023 and beyond to share news, information and engage members in its delivery.

Through this partnership:

  • Bristol City Leap updates, including opportunities to be involved, will be shared regularly with all members via Partnership channels;
  • Bristol City Leap will connect with the Community Climate Action Project and gather insights and recommendations to inform its business plan;
  • Bristol City Leap will provide expert insight on energy systems to community climate action community partners; and,
  • Just transition issues will be incorporated and explored within the Partnership’s Climate Action Programme, including with the Climate Leaders.

Bristol City Leap is a new, innovative partnership between Bristol City Council and Ameresco Ltd which will accelerate green energy investment in Bristol and help towards decarbonising the whole city.

Bristol City Leap is intended to operate over a 20-year term, targeting net zero goals through a series of energy and infrastructure investment opportunities, attracting approximately £1 billion of inward investment. Over the next five years the initiative will attract nearly £500 million of investment into low carbon energy infrastructure, such as solar, wind, heat networks, heat pumps and energy efficiency measures – all of which will help Bristol meet its carbon reduction targets. It also aims to deliver a better quality of life for residents and is a critical step in our city’s commitment to climate action.

“Bristol Green Capital Partnership plays a pivotal role in our just transition to becoming a carbon neutral city by 2030. We are really excited to be working with the Partnership to deliver a transformational series of projects which will not only cut carbon, but will also provide significant social value, making the city a better place to live, work and learn. It is vital that we continue to work with the whole city to ensure that our journey to decarbonisation is fair and leaves no one behind.  We know that Bristol Green Capital Partnership’s dedication to this aligns perfectly with Bristol City Leap’s existing commitments to inclusive, green growth.” James Sterling, Bristol City Leap Communications and Engagement Manager.

In support of Bristol Green Capital Partnership, Bristol City Leap demonstrates its commitment to ongoing engagement of communities and businesses across Bristol.

“Bristol City Leap is a major step forward in Bristol’s journey towards becoming a carbon neutral city by 2030. By connecting Bristol City Leap with organisations and businesses in the city, we aim to support a more inclusive implementation of Bristol City Leap and boost climate action – we are excited to be working together towards these mutual aims to engage communities and businesses to maximise the opportunities for inclusive climate action across Bristol.” Lizzi Testani, Chief Executive Officer of Bristol Green Capital Partnership.

James Sterling will be joined by Bristol City Leap colleagues as our guest speaker on 2 March at the Green Mingle. Please come along to find out the latest on this exciting project.
