Reflecting on the Climate Action Programme: delivering real impact

The Climate Action Programme offers free, practical support to help organisations reduce their carbon emissions, protect and restore nature, and build resilience in a changing climate. Over the last four years, this programme has helped shape a community of ambitious organisations committed to positive change, through expert-led events, resources and solution-oriented case studies.

Climate and nature action has continued to develop as a priority area for many organisations across the city. We’ve seen growing programme demand from organisations of all sizes and sectors, despite at times competing business pressures. This demonstrates the inspiring climate leadership present in Bristol.

The support from our programme sponsors, Bristol City Council and the Bristol Business Improvement District, enables us to deliver tailored climate support, shaped by the needs and ambitions of local businesses.

Some highlights from the past few years include:

  • Holding 40 Climate Action Programme events and workshops on topics including supplier engagement, carbon data and resilience.
  • 547 organisations attending Climate Action Programme events since it began four years ago.
  • In year four we saw 439 people attendees from 174 organisations.
  • We have a jam-paced resource library including new resources on topics such as the new B-Corp standards, collecting and reporting carbon emissions and behaviour change.
  • Our resources have been viewed over 16,000 times.
  • We have 33 Climate Leaders reducing their emissions, being transparent about the challenges and working to improve measuring and reducing their scope 3 emissions.

“Over the last few years, we have found the Climate Leaders Group to be a fantastic way for member organisations to share knowledge and learn from each other’s approaches to sustainability. It is motivating to be part of a like-minded peer group and to meet other organisations that are prioritising sustainability in their approach to business.”

“It has been great to tap into the brilliant network that is Bristol Climate & Nature Partnership’s Climate Action Programme. As a Bristol-based business committed to prioritising climate action, we’ve found the programme invaluable, with a wide range of events, resources and networking opportunities. The events are a lovely place to connect with like-minded individuals from local businesses, share ideas and best practices. We’ve gained plenty of insights and inspiration that continue to support our journey to be a Science-Based net-zero business.”
