Opportunity to connect with Bristol’s new community climate and nature network
Do you have an offer, opportunity, idea or project you would like to discuss with Bristol’s established community climate and nature network? The CCNA Network is a collection of organisations advocating for community-led action locally. We’re inviting climate, nature, resilience and just transition projects to connect with the network, gain community insights and help ensure Bristol’s efforts are joined up.
A thriving network of community organisations with climate and nature action plans has been developed in Bristol over the last five years, underpinned by our community climate and nature action model. This Bristol CCNA Network is now a unique collaborative collective who meet quarterly to advocate for the priorities identified in those plans, and identify opportunities for progress.
The network is made up of representatives from 30 organisations who all have experience of, and an interest in, community-led climate and nature action which makes life better for local people. We’ve recently welcomed three new partners to the existing membership; WECIL who are now leading on the Climate and Disability programme; The Diversity Trust who support the LGBTQIA+ community, and Carers Support Bristol & South Gloucestershire.
The network includes seven Community Advocates who are dedicated experts from community organisations across the city. They have wide ranging experience of community-led climate and nature action, and valuable insights into just transition and community engagement. Advocates meet monthly and their role includes advocating for a just transition and providing support to the new West of England community organisations who are developing their plans.
How you can benefit from the network and advocates
If you have a climate, nature, resilience or just transition related opportunity, or are delivering relevant projects, policies or research in the region, get in touch via this short expression of interest form.
Some examples of projects the network and advocates have contributed to are:
- the development of a new fund to support local nature projects
- reviewing how Bristol City Council’s GreenDEMO project can support further community-led climate action
- a consultation on Bristol’s Heat Network
- the South West Net Zero Hub’s regional Energising Britain event
- shaping principles for policy makers for community participation on climate
Expressions of interest will be reviewed by staff to see which connections will have the most impact and unfortunately, we won’t be able to accommodate all requests. If you have news, events or opportunities to share with our whole membership network, email contact@bristolclimatenature.org
