A year at Bristol Climate & Nature Partnership: our Annual Review 2025-26

With the UK’s hottest summer on record, five consecutive heatwaves, and political instability nationally and globally, 2025-26 has been a sobering year. There has been a lot to process. But through it all, our network of 1,300+ organisations has only become more determined. We know that a better future is possible.

“…As the political debates and instability rage on, we remain undistracted and unwavering. And with each passing week we gain new allies… Societal changes can feel disorienting in the moment. But I believe we will look back on this period with pride and amazement at the enormous efforts poured into moving our city and region forward…”

Lizzi Testani, CEO, Bristol Climate & Nature Partnership

Over the year, our network has strengthened connections, shared invaluable knowledge and resources, and taken bold steps forward for our region. Whilst the world can feel chaotic and full of division, climate and nature action is happening all around us – in businesses, councils, hospitals, schools, community centres, neighbourhoods, and amongst those who thought they had nothing in common.

At Bristol Climate & Nature Partnership, our role is to facilitate this. We’ve put together our Annual Review to shine a light on our work – what we’ve been coordinating, who we’ve been bringing together, and the needs we’ve been meeting to push for a greener, fairer region.

We’re delighted to share some highlights from 2025-26:

  • We welcomed 99 new organisations to our network, with over 1,000 attendees at our events.
  • Backed by National Lottery funding, we expanded our Community Climate & Nature Action Project from Bristol to the wider West of England region. We’re now resourcing six more community organisations to co-create climate and nature action with the people they serve.
  • We held a Gathering of 150 people to celebrate our Community Climate & Nature Action Project and launch six new Bristol community climate and nature action plans.
  • We held eight free events supporting a growing number of ambitious organisations with climate and nature action. They expanded their understanding of topics such as AI, digital emissions, commuter travel, climate resilience, and making climate action ‘business as usual’.
  • We began our role in the new Nature Together Project. We’re removing barriers to help local people feel a sense of belonging to their nearby green spaces and play an active role in caring for them.
  • As a team, we developed our wellbeing principles to support our emotional health during climate work and reduce the risk of burnout. We have shared these so that other organisations can do the same and make ‘sustainability sustainable’.

We’d like to thank all of our supporters – our members, followers, readers, and funders. We’re particularly grateful to our Supporting Members: our work is possible because of you.

Let’s keep working hard, finding joy, resting well, and growing our region’s movement for climate, nature, and people.
