New creative commission opportunity
We are seeking to commission an artist to produce and share creative content for our Mission Net Zero Gathering in November 2024.
Mission Net Zero is a project funded by Innovate UK’s Net Zero Living programme to support progress towards a more sustainable and inclusive city and deliver on Bristol’s One City Climate Strategy. It addresses the non-technical conditions that are essential for a just transition to net zero – community involvement and leadership, green skills and jobs, and innovative financial solutions – recognising that we have the technological solutions for energy transition, but that without solutions to these barriers, we can’t achieve the speed and scale required.
About the Gathering
On Wednesday 20 November 1-7pm we are holding a gathering at We the Curious titled Transforming Bristol Together: A work in progress.
At the halfway point between Bristol’s declaration of a climate emergency and our 2030 carbon neutral target, we are gathering our membership and wider regional stakeholders to take a moment for reflection and remind ourselves of the potential of our collective action.
Our Gathering is a space for businesses, community groups and the public sector to come together, share ideas and perspectives and celebrate our achievements, whilst holding space for the challenges we face and the work still to be done.
About the creative commission
We are seeking a piece of original creative content or an activity that can be performed or experienced during the gathering. It could be poetry, music, story/spoken word, live graphic illustration or an interactive activity that around 200 attendees can participate in or contribute to. Suggested performance or running time: 5-10 minutes. We will also film a recorded version to share on social media after the event.
The aim of this creative commission is to:
- Speak to the themes of courage, grief, joy and determination
- Disrupt the traditional conference event format to reenergise participants from the business, community and public sectors
- Reflect and emphasise the strength of collective climate and nature action, creating a shared experience among the audience that inspires and motivates
- Develop creative content which can be shared after the event for ongoing impact.
The commission fee is £1,000 for development and production of commission to include performance and/or delivery of creative and interactive activity at the gathering and all materials.
Download the full commission brief for further details including how to apply. The deadline for proposal submissions is 23:59 on Sunday 29 September 2024.
